RB2 – Die Hard

Reels, Booze & Bro’s aka RB2 hosts Brian,& Jay  with Reel Bro Kev analyze one of the greatest action Christmas movies of all time; Die Hard.  Some are skeptical on whether or not it’s a Christmas movie.  Come booze and decide with us about this hot topic.

Yippee Ki-Yay! A Die Hard Movie Review

Die Hard is a classic action film that has stood the test of time. Bruce Willis stars as John McClane, a New York cop who finds himself trapped in a Los Angeles skyscraper during a Christmas party, fighting against a group of terrorists led by Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman).

Plot and Characters

The plot of Die Hard is simple but effective, as McClane has to use his wits and resourcefulness to take down the terrorists one by one, all while trying to save his estranged wife who is among the hostages. The movie’s characters are also memorable, from the suave and villainous Gruber to the no-nonsense cop Al Powell (Reginald VelJohnson) who becomes McClane’s ally.

Iconic Moments

Die Hard is known for its many iconic moments, such as McClane crawling through air vents, the explosive rooftop scene, and of course, the famous catchphrase “Yippee ki-yay, motherf***er”. The film’s action sequences are well choreographed and still hold up today, and the soundtrack by Michael Kamen adds to the tension and excitement.

Is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

One of the debates surrounding Die Hard is whether or not it can be considered a Christmas movie. While the movie takes place during the holiday season and features some Christmas music, it is ultimately an action movie first and foremost. However, the themes of redemption and family reconciliation do tie into the holiday spirit, so it can be argued either way.

Overall, Die Hard is a must-see movie for any action fan, and even those who aren’t typically fans of the genre can appreciate its iconic moments and memorable characters. Yippee ki-yay indeed!

Die Hard is the ultimate Christmas movie, and we highly recommend watching it during the holiday season. It has everything you could want from a festive movie: action, suspense, and lots of Christmas cheer!
